Governance
Governing Body
Bedfont Primary School is a local authority maintained school in Hounslow borough. The school’s governing body is generally responsible for the conduct of the school with a view to promoting high standards of education. They act together rather than as individuals. Each Governor’s term of office is four years.
The full governing body usually meets four times a year. Groups of Governors form committees to meet and discuss such topics as the curriculum, personnel matters, finance, school improvement, Health and Safety and site and buildings.

CHRIS MCALLAN - STAFF GOVERNOR
Working as part of a governing body is an important role in any school; being a member of the governing body in a school you work in and have committed over 12 years of service to is a privilege. Having spent the majority of my career teaching, I have recently moved into business management and continue to work at Bedfont Primary as Operations Manager. My role is wide ranging; focusing on finance and premises, as well as developing my skills in HR and exploring income streams for the school. Bringing the perspective of a teacher (I’ll always be a teacher!) alongside the strategic elements required will enable me to work with other governors to provide challenge and support to the school.
SIAN JOLLEY - CO-OPTED GOVERNOR
I am so pleased to be a new member of the governing body for Bedfont Primary School. As a teacher who has taught across KS1 in another school for the past nine years, and most recently been part of the senior leadership team, I can therefore provide an inside perspective, understanding the importance of the school's role in the community. I have always been intrigued by the governing body, and I am delighted to be a part of this one. I aim to make a positive contribution to the school and really be involved with ensuring the children are receiving the best start to their education.
In my personal life, I have just had a baby boy in August this year, who I am currently enjoying spending most of my time with. I enjoy swimming and yoga to keep active, as well as travelling to many different countries.

COLIN SALTER - PARENT GOVERNOR
I have lived in the local area my whole life and my daughter is currently a very happy pupil at the school. As a family we love to go out for walks and enjoy cooking together. We have lots of links to the education sector within our family & I believe it's so important for all children to be able to access and experience the highest quality education they can in a safe and stimulating environment. I have worked in the retail industry for 26 years which has provided me the opportunity to work with lots of different people in various parts of the country. During my working life I have gained experience in Health & Safety, asset management, finance and recruitment. I joined as a parent governor in November 2023 so that I can contribute these skills and experiences alongside the rest of the governors to help the school be the best that it can be for the children, staff and community.
